Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

by and large.... the hammer method works best. over time and alignments they slip around and get stuck together. Its best to replace it once you get it out.

Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

Just to clear things up as long as I have and ex (abs) I dont need a new proportioning valve? It will take care of itself? Also what year SI do I need these brakes off of I would like to get it off the newest year possible. I think 2003 is the last year with 4 lug? 2004 they started doing 5? Is this correct? If so are 02-and-03 exactly the same? like can I mix and match if need be?

Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

everything has to be off an 02 or 03 civic si or 01-05 el. yes you can mix and match. a new ppv isnt required on any model. you dont really want to mess with the brake bias anyway unless you really know what your doing. if anything you would want a new brake mc. but the stock equipment is perfectly fine for the swap

Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

The master cylinder is different then the SI one? How much would it effect the braking performance?

Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

yes well you would have more psi of fluid pressure when braking so im assuming it would help lower braking distance but im just using my stock lx mc so i couldnt honestly tell you

Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

"wheel sensors and all the bracketry" what is meant by bracketry and do I need the wheel sensors, or can I use the ones I already have?

First you need to acquire a set of EP3 discs. EL discs for Canadians also will work. The more complete you can buy, the better, low miles is good too. If you build them, which I advise against because its expensive, you need knuckles, the hub and bearings, caliper assembly, wheel sensors and all the bracketry. Regardless, you need Si brake lines and EP3 or DC5 ebrake cables. I believe non abs cars will require a new proportioning valve although I can't confirm this. EX models don't need one, the ABS takes care of it.

Remove the stock wheel sensor from the drum. Its the oblong shaped thing in on the back that the orange plug is attached to. Remove the bolt then pry it out carefully. You'll need to do the same for the ones on the discs. Put the stock ones from the drums in the discs. Bolt them back in, toss the Si ones.

ok.. so if im reading this correctly, you need the abs sensor from the donor car... but why are you swapping the abs sensor from the drum to the disk knuckle?

Hi...

Someone have news about the proportioning valve...

I made the swap 2 years ago and I still searching for a prop valve it gonna make a better job than the stock DX one...

Have some news about de master/booster upgrade ????

I have 12 inch Powerslot front disk convertion with OEM caliper... should I swap my booster/master for a RSX-S one ???

or may be RSX-Base or Civic Si ???

Re: Drums--->Discs SPELLED OUT

a ppv will mess with the brake bias, y would you want to do that? if your brakes can still lock up theres no need for a bigger booster. pad life is dependent on the pad compound.

Kick *** thread. I'm hoping to get the money together this summer for this conversion. It's already an EX with ABS, so, I'll just need to get my hands dirty.
With the exception of a few spelling challenged people with no concept of searching previous posts, I have been quite impressed with the amount of knowledge being throw around in these forums. Thanks guys.
