rusty rotors or drum?
'cause you are not suppose to paint your rotors....
either way, they are just metal, regular sandpaper and high temp paint would be fine.

Yes. Please paint the actual rotor. I want to see you go ahead and try and stop after you do that.

ya know...you dont have to be dicks about it...if im not supposed to paint my rotor, then just say so and tell me why

rokenrolcivic's rotors are painted...they were done by honda when he got his springs installed.

*edit* maybe iv got the part name wrong...isnt the rotor the round disc lookin thing thats in behind the wheel? the thing the caliper clamps onto?

You can paint the hub, but I guarantee you its gonna come off. Brakes get too hot to withstand paint. Every rotor hub I've painted has burned off the paint and still rusted. So don't bother with it.

rotors get rusty if you let them sit for a long period of time, but after a few stops, they look normal again.

I painted my ROTORS and they work fine. And the paint is still on there. I didn't paint the shiny part, that the brake pad touches, but I painted the rotor. I used a wire brush on mine.

Jezzz......the shinny part that the brake touches...are you talking about the disk?! If so thats the rotor. The only thing you can really paint on the front disks are the calipers. If you paint the rotor your painting the surface in which the brake pads rubb against to create friction to slow your car down.

As for the rust on your rotor aka the disk....its totally fine, you drive your car around a bit and it will come off....plus a little rust gives u a little extra bite and friction.

ok he is probably talking about the part between the shiny part and the rim... you can see a little bit of the rust but that **** looks nasty right!? so get some hi temp engine spray paint and paint them after using sand paper. I did my drums and calipers this past weekend black. and I need new brakes so before I put the new rotors on I plan to paint them as well.. hopefully it won't peel like someone just said

I'm sure this person means painting the portion of the rotor that mounts to the hub. I'm not sure what you would call that part either, other than the Rotor Hub. But yes, you can paint only that part of the rotor. Now if you are trying to get it shiny smooth then paint it, You would have to do some mile grinding (to remove the rough texture), then sanding, priming and painting. Not worth it. Just tape off the rotor, spray a couple coats of caliper paint and be done. It's not going to shine or do well due to the heat as mentioned above.

im talking about the shinny disk thing that you can see in that pic above. i thought that was the rotor?

i know what a caliper is, and i was planning on painting it as well.

now im confused...some people say you cant paint the caliper, some people say they have theirs painted. rokenrolcivic has his painted...i saw it. it was painted by honda at a dealership when he took his ride there to have his springs installed...so im not sure where the people who say they CANT be painted are getting this information from.

oook lets settle this

The yellow arrows are pointing to the caliper, rotor hub, and the rotor vent (I don't know if it has a specific name, thats just what i call it), you can paint them whatever color you want. The red arrow is pointing to the rotor face don't paint that part. If you do paint the rotor face....1)The paint will come off 2)Maybe you shouldn't be painting in the first place

rotors turn like that, even if you get a new one it will become like that in a little while, your rotors are still good not even warped what the hell is your problem.
