Question Hawk pads + Powerslot Rotors.

hey like the title says i want to know how this setup is going to be like.

i want mostly performance but i still want that sporty look of the rotor.

Let me know i dont want look back saying i would like something different..

Thanks a lot

Vantage should not be trusted
wat size rotors are u getting? the bigger the diameter it will help a bit more in stopping, but MOST of the performance will come from the hawk HP's. They are awesome pads and u will notice it right away. If u are going for looks then go nuts with cross drilled or slotted rotors, but if u want STREET performance, id stick with blank rotors in a larger diameter because slots/drilled sections give less surface area, and although small it will stop slower. the reason for Xdriller or slotted, is for heat disipation, like in autoX, and since all honda rotors are vented, they already flow well. But u will notice a little gain, but probably not much unless u really drive them hard and get them hot.

Matt - Are you getting a better price than what Dezod offered from the group buy post? http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=192636

I cannot say that I feel too much of a difference than the stock pads and rotors. I have not started to go to autocross or track events though I do plan to in the future. I would say the setup is not a poor choice, the two companies reccomend each other when doing a brake package. Plus as quoted from my local Honda Dealer I would have paid about $185 for Honda to install everything while I paid $195 and did the install myself.

u will feel a bit of difference but nothing major, ull feel it when the brakes get hot after spirited driving/autoX, they will hold up a lot better, and not fade.

does that means......just streetwise performance, this combo is good?

actually, one should put in a perspective regarding braking style w/o engine brake......

if you engine brake, then it'll light up the burden to your brake setup...however, if ur completely using the brake setup w/o engine brake.....then a "semi-autox" driving style probably a better nickname....

hopefully this combo (which i already bought from truehonda) will be a great setup for my car.

Zen-Master, Yes, in my opinion the setup is a good combo. I don't go overboard on my engine braking. I almost always setup for corners with rev matching and downshifting but when I am just stopping at a standard street light I find engine braking overkill. Daily driving really does not show the performance of the brakes. My driving style is not aggressive interms of braking, I always setup without the need to slam on them too heavy since I have no ABS. Hope that gives you a good perspective on the setup.

This is not true.....you may have a bigger diameter rotor (looks only) but the pad surface area is still the same on that rotor or a stock diameter rotor. You are not going to gain any braking performance based on the diameter of the rotor.

You beat me to it...

I've had this setup installed for a while now, and love it. Dramatically less dust than stock too.

Bigger the rotor though the better heat dissapation.

Plus with a bigger rotor and the caliper farther away from the hub, you have more effective torque on the wheel, even with the same surface area (stop a record in the middle by pushing down w/ one finger, then use same finger to stop on outside edge, it is much easier!). Sorry, engineer showing thru. AJ

exactly, the larger the rotor the more heat it can handle, therefore u can push it harder without getting warpage, or brake fade. Thx for pointing that out tho,

bigger rotor = weaker acceleration, weaker braking, weaker handling.

all of those things are maginal tho, most rotors arent much heavier than a stock rotor, and UNLIKE WHEELS they dont affect acceleration. u wont even notice the difference, they are maybe 4-5 lbs TOTAL more than OEM rotors, which when u think about it is nothing spred over 4 wheels, if ur really concerened about weight on the corners, get lighter wheels to compensate.

if u get big rotors u have to have a caliper that will go over most or all that rotor to take advatage of the bigger rotor stopping power. if u just get bigger size rotors your stock caliper wont grip most of it so in effect u will reduce your stopping power.

btw goodtimes was it u i seen at HIN with crewchief? if so i got the powerslot rotors and hawk hps pads. there awesome and u will like them.
