Getting 17's w/ 215/45/17. Any comments?

Hello everyone,

I'm planning on getting these rims (Ion Alloys 114) with 215/45/17 tires. The car is not lowered (Yet). Will they look ok? And if I do lower them, how low should I go with stock shocks (1", 1.5", 2")

http://www.whalentire.com/wheeldetai...-7701C&size=17

The offset for this wheel is 40mm - I'm assuming that's fine and will not look weird as in sticking out too much, right.

Also should I go with the Khumo Escta 712's ($89 each) or the Falkan ZE 512 ($69 each).

I also want to put a Greddy Evo exhaust but do not want the loud noise - is there an exhaust that only a little louder then stock. I use to have a 98 Eclipse Spyder GST and had all the mods, now I have a 2 month newborn and just traded in the Spyder for a 05 4Runner Limited and took over my wife 02 Civic EX (Automatic). I want to at least look make the ride a little nicer then stock.

Any advise will be nice.

My opinions:

1) choose a different wheel (just playin, but not my style)
2) Sure they'll look okay, depending on how much you plan to lower the car...I like 215/40/17 personally.
3) I originally purchased H&R (1.3") with stock shocks...they worked very nicely but were not low enough for my taste.
4) I personally have had good experiences with Kuhmos (not everyone likes em) and havent heard to much on those Falkens....
5) I really liked my Apexi World Sport cat-back exhaust I had...sounded exactly like stock until higher RPMS and still wasn't very loud at all!

Yeah, I just got some ZE-512's at whalentires.com with my rims and they're great.

The tires ride very much like stock, although a bit more sticky. These are 17's I
just got and I haven't dropped yet. It's looks about the same as stock, except for
the bigger rim, since 215/45's are just like an 1'' taller:

Thanks everyone for the info. I had Kumho 712's on my Eclipse Spyder and they were ok. I'm gonna get the Falken ZE 512's since they will last a lot longer and cheaper - Not planning on doing 130mph++ anytime soon - especially with an Automatic.

Do you guys think getting a Greddy Evo2 exhaust is worth it on a automatic?? I done some research here and everyone says it's not too loud - which is what I want. No more Ricey Drown at 70 mph on the freeway (Sounds like a Bumble Bee on Steriods).

Right now I have an Injen Air intake system and want to get an exhaust (One that is not loud if possible) and will be ordering some wheel/tires soon.

Later,
Mike

Rims aren't my style for a civic, but the Kumho 712 I can't complain I live here in OR with the wet weather finally and they handle fine. But 215/45/17 should work fine for you.
