sounds like he kinda answered his own question in his first post. but yeah tires are very important to the performance of your car especially in rain. I know i hydroplaned a few times on the stocks, since i replaced the tires i haven't hydro planed once.
My friend that drove a 00 eclipse had 60k on his stock tires, spinned out on a curvy off ramp during heavy rain and totaled his eclipse. He said it was the poorly designed off ramp, which i think was part of it, but i think it was mostly from the wore out tires. Crappy tires + rain = accident.

dang, get nicer tires. i got falken 512's and there pretty new, like 4k on them and i drive 70+ in the snow with my car and its lowered too with a kit. i never have problems. i dont have problems at all with my car ever in the snow.
