Si rear brake conversion

Tools you will need.
17 mm wrench
17 deep socket
14 socket
12 socket
10 socket
10mm flare wrench
phillips screw driver
hammer
torque wrench
floor jack
jack stands
lug wrench
tools to bleed brakes

Items to buy
1 liter of brake fluid, I used ATE Super Blue
Speed bleeders, makes bleeding a one person job
Stainless steel lines, no better time to install them

The items you will need from the Civic are
knuckle
hub
shield
disk
caliper
parking brake cables
brake lines
propotional valve off of an Acura EL

Additionally, you should check the disks for warpage. The pad for thickness. But most brake setups will be from a late model Civc with low miles

Jack up the car, place jack stands under neath. You will need the jack, so you have to have the stands, besides safety. Chock the front tires.

Take off the rear wheels.

The lower rear bolts on the knuckle are cam bolts. Mark the alignment with a marker.

Remove ABS sensor, but do not disconnect from harness, if you do and turn the car on, you will code the ABS system.

Remove center console. Loosen adjusting nut on parking brake, unhook cables. Remove bolts under car and pull parking cables loose.

Use a flare wrench to loosen brake line. If you don't use a flare wrench you can strip the fittings. They are hard to replace. Place a pan under neath to catch the fluid.

Take off three bolts that hold the knucke to the lower and upper arm.

Pull off the stock drum.

Put the disk knuckle on the car. Start all three bolts, do not tighten. Raise that arm with a jack to load the suspension arm. Align the cam bolt with the mark you made earlier. Torque all bolts to 43 lbs.

Release jack and let tension off of arm

Re-install ABS sensor if equipped

Install brake line. 25 lbs for banjo fitting. 11 lbs for other end. Again, use flare wrench.

Bleed brakes, starting at RR, LR, RF, LF; speed bleeder work really well.

Install parking brake cables. Adjust so that wheel spins freely with no clicks up. Stops at 1 click of parking brake lever.

Check for pressure, go to safe location, bed pads into rotors.

anyone else done this, I think I heard something about the parking brake cable being too short.

either way I have to buy one of them, so I might get them both

I will probably order most of the extra parts that I need from Majestic Honda, had good luck with them in the past

By the way - you don't need a new proportioning valve. Its been covered before - the EL uses the same valve as the civic in the US.....
