Brakes Going Already????
Ok i got a 04 civic coupe ex auto. comming up on the 5000 mile mark and it feels like i'm gonna need new brakes soon. Is this possible? now this is my second car on my diamante they needed to be replaced every 10k miles i was a little hard on them sometimes but i've calmed down with this car. when i step on the brakes it slightly slighty feels a little choppy as if it seems the anti's are about to start locking up if you understand what i'm saying? is it me or im gonna need new brakes soon

Well, you are the only one who will know if you need new brakes. Just remove all your tires and check your brakes to see how they look. Most likely you dont, but it all depends on how you drive.
But it sounds like you are just experiencing honda brakes. The honda pads fit lose in the brackets and shift around alot. And the rotors are shitty too. Best bet is to upgrade your rotors and pads. I recommend brembo blanks and any performance pad, Hawk, axxis ultimates, AEM.

u have warranty..what do you worry about.. just go to dealer and let them check it out for you if you haven't done any DIY's on break stuffs, cuz it can mess you up bad if you don't do right.

well ya kno, wen ur brakes are new/good theyre pretty stiff and responsive wen u press down on them right? well wen i press mines down now, it goes down pretty far..and theres not much stopping force. i hafta press harder and farther down for the car to really come to a slow.
the other reason why i think my brakes should be replaced soon, is that i drive pretty rough. i speed all the time, lol. i kno its not good, but its turned into a habit. u kno how it is. ill be going like 110mph n hafta hit hard on the brakes, cuz of traffic issues, or i spot a cop somewhere. cuz of my driving style, i just assume that im wearing them out at a rapid pace.

I agree, it just sounds like they're fading. They're shitty pads designed for granny driving, the problem is, they don't even stand up to that very well. Honda is known for invincible drivetrains, but they don't seem to know very well how to make a car stop. A lot of us have changed the pads just because they're so horrible.... I'd recommend dumping the rotors for Brembo blanks as well.

yeah that option just popped up in my head the other day. ill probably do that in the near future.
chrisleeiscool: yah man, i kno. lol its just so hard tho, once **** turns into a habit its hard to break.
Zzyzx: i think i speak for benzboy too, its all the time.
i bet we just both drive like **** n treat our brakes harshly. even if i went n got some performence pads, like some aems or hawks. i doubt it would really make a huge difference. the problem is my driving style....

of course brake pads aren't included in the warranty but i'm just saying if it needs brake pads i'm not gonna bring it in for service especially when they don't give loaners. altho i do have that honda extended warranty the honda dealer gave me which covers my maitnence for 2 years i wonder if thats covered i gotta read the book i know oil changes and stuff like that are covered

AEM pads arnt High performance pads... they are an upgrade from OEM.
Hawk Pads depending on which ones you get resist fading to Close to 800 Deg F. If you can get your rotors/pads hotter then 800 Deg on the street, then you REALLY need to change your braking habbits...
Axxis ultimates are good to 100 Deg...
The Porterfield R4S that I have are resistant to fade up to 1200 DEG...
Picking the right pad for your driving makes a big difference... and you may want to go to a Higer temp Brake fluid too.
benz - where in nassau??
also does anyone have a problem with their brakes when they're wet going in reverse? i sometimes have it when they're dry - only when i go in reverse, they sometimes squeak. the dealer has checked them and just cleaned them up but they still do it
