what's tach got to do with anything? the only thing that will vary would be the speedometer, and it wouldn't be that drastic of a change.

the tire calculator that's on this site (and based on other threads will reappear again) helps in determining the difference in size/speedometer. by switching over to the 215/55/15, my speedometer is now like .6% too fast (so i'm actually going a little slower than the speedometer reads) which is just fine with me.

You're looking at a 1.4% difference vs stock. I.E. WHen your speedo reads 60mph, you are actually traveling 59.2mph

also, you will be 1.4% higher in RPM for any given speed, and you've shortened your gearing by 1.4%. Both of these are good for accleleration.

the down side, you'll get slightly less gas milage due to the Higher RPMS per given speed vs stock. (only 1.4% though, and over 300 Miles 1.4% = 4.2 miles)

u got LX?

185/70/R14, eh?

oh crap...
i tried to learn how to calculate that..

can you teach me again how to calculate the RPM ration between two tires that results on LOWER MPG? THANX!!

EDIT::

ok, i tried to calculate it on my own...

185/65/R15 Vs. 195/60/R15
means, 24.469 vs. 24.213
resulting, 1.01% difference..

better acceleration, lower MPG..

185/65/R15 Vs. 215/60/R15
means, 24.469 vs. 25.157
resulting, 0.97% difference..

lower acceleration, higher MPG..

185/65/R15 Vs. 215/45/R17
means, 24.469 vs. 24.618
resulting, 0.99% difference..

lower acceleration, higher MPG..

am i correct??

^^ no because V-tec will still engage at the same RPM, the only difference is that you will be at a Different MPH.

Zen Master, 1st one is correct, 2nd is 2.8% larger, 3rd is .6% larger, so 1st one = Lower MPG, and the other 2 have higher MPG.

based on my calculation,

your new set vs. the old set, the new set somehow got smaller diameter....
smaller diameter means faster acceleration....and that means lower MPG..

moreover, bigger wheels, 14 -> 15....if u don't use light weight rims, that will add more weight.....and that also lower ur MPG..
