Depends on the offset of the rim and how low you wanna go. If you are at 40, you wont have a problem with either. Im dropped 3" in the back on 215/45/17 and I havent rubbed, but I still have - camber.

I have 18" on my car with some sprint springs and it rides like it came from the factory and mine dont rub at all

I'd go with 215-45-17
It woulnd't rub if you don't drop
more than 2" i believe.
I'm about to drop it 1.75 F 1.5 R
with 205-40-17 but i wish i had 215-45-17 or 205-45-17

Depends on the look you want really. With these 2 sizes. Neither should rub, but check the wheel offset.
Im dropped almost 2.75" all around on 205/40/17...

well, it will be stock height for the next year, in which i will then be getting tein ss coilovers. 45 just look like too big a sidewall for me

I have 205/40/17 right now. You will not rub at all with this setup. I want to go 215/40 or 215/45 when these tires wear out. I have a 1" drop with eibach pro. Which, after settling, is something like 1.4".

The handling is very good. Bumps are a pain in the @ss. I got them for the handling though.

so basically the 215/40/17 would be a wider tire than the 205/40/17 right? what difference would it make on the width of the tire as far as handling?

I have 215/40/17 with a 2.5 drop and no problem at all. The rid is not too bad either.

Id go with 205/45/17 or 215/45/17 just beacuse its closer to stocka nd wont mess your speedometer much plus 45's are much better because of the extra cushion 40's would be a rougher ride and potholes would hurt.

Well, there is 10 more mm(correct?) than the 205's. There will be an increase in cornering, but you couldnt really tell. A bigger difference would be 205 and 305, as an example. Much more tire is on the ground, which will give the car a better stance when on corners. Hope that gives you an understanding.

ok so then there really isn't much difference between the 215 and the 205 right? just 10mm?
