215/40/17

for a 1-1/2" Rear and 1-1/4" Front drop, should I go with 215/40/17 or 215/45/17??? I want to minimize the possibility of rubbing

215/45-17's are the proper size, anything other than that will throw off your speedometer. I have 215/45-17's and never have rubbing, with the eibach prokit's and koni yellow shocks.

I'd stick with 215/40-17...45's have a little more "buldge" to them in the sidewall(possible rubbing problem)
Either way, there's not enough of a difference to throw the speedo off...

45's should be fine for that mild drop. If you plan to go lower than its time for 40's
with the 45's you get proper tire size not so harsh ride and a little more rim protection from those nasty pot holes. I'm running 40's but my rides dropped more than that.
