oh guys I'm relieved I made it home without an accident
This morning I get to my favorite space on top of the school deck, and do my usual walk-aroung-the-car inspection right before heading to class. But today i noticed that my tire had a LUMP on it. It looks like a little tumor. I've seen this on a basketball once too. I went my classes and took a final, and forgot about it til I got back to the car. I let a lot of air out of the tire but the bump didn't go away. Then I drive around the block twice to see if anything would happen, and the bump didn't grow any so I took the risk and drove it home
How did it happen?
I need to know!!!!!!!!
Possibilities: Aurora brand (by Nankang or Hankook I think), tires were unmounted and reused, and/or the bastards at Goodyear (who mounted them onto my new rims) over inflated
Damn I was going to get my windows tinted but it looks like I'll be spending on new tires instead
please see pics.

That's called an IMPACT BREAK (sure looks like one). Did you run into a pothole or something.
I hit an expansion plate on an overpass doing about 95-100 MPH going to Montreal. I thought the struts were gonna come through the hood (very scary). When I got back home a few days later my mechanic noticed the bubble on the inside of the driver front. It was an impact break. I use Michelin Pilot Exalto Tires and they saved my wheel.

I'm not sure why this happens, but I used to install tires, and saw this all the time. Get you tires changed ASAP though. The sidewalls are the most important part of the tire. Don't go throwing on your spare as a replacement tire. I've seen many people use the spare as a replacement tire, and they end up blowing the spare or warping the spare tire.
I don't think it has to do with who installed your tires. I think its just a defect in from the tire manufacturer. You can probably get that tire pro rated.

dammit yeah
stupid route I take to school is getting repaired up to the ***. must have been a stupid metal lid that covers the holes that the construction people dig.
I only had the mini donut at the moment, that's why I didn't take the rim off. Is it safe to drive on? I wanna save myself the trouble of busting out an oem wheel in storage and putting that onto the car, just to drive to a tire shop

I know I like the look of 225/40's but they just are not as comfortable as 45's . I hit a major pothole with my Yokahama Es100's 215/445/17 and bent the rim to ****, but the tire shows no damage.
Sorry to hear the damage to your tire, but at the least your rim looks good.

went around to tire shops and found a shop with 225/40 in stock and willing to sell just one.
I dropped $120 for the tire, tire switch, and balancing. And it was some cheap looking tire named Visa. They were happy to do the service even though I dropped in unexpected. They did it in less than 20 minutes so I had time to get to class.
Of course they messed up the rim a little (some of the paint chipped off at the inside edge of the lip). I went through a whole ordeal trying to find a shop that wouldn't do that, before when I just got the rims. But at least I don't have to worry about a blowout

I had that too back then with my gf's DelSol. She had the 205/45VR-17 Nitto NT-505, which was a shitty tires in my opinion. Once you have that bump on the side, definitely need to replace. Why don't you look at Tire Rack or Discount Tires Direct? Their prices usually are the best.
