Pad Drag w/ Brembos and EBC?!?!
I've got a small problem here.. I installed my brembo sport rotors and EBC greenstuff pads yesterday. I did both sides the same, used cleaner, the compound and everything. When I went off to drive they were a little noisy but I figured this to just to be everything bedding in. I've driven about 100 miles or so on them and took the wheels back off to give them both a closer inspection. The passenger side looks fine, still bronze, a thin layer of pad on the rotor.. however the driver side, which seemed to be the area w/ the most noise, has a lot of dark black streaks running around the rotor. The rotor doesn't seem to be gouged or anything, it's just an awful lot of marks and the sort of grinding noise when coming to a stop. There's no noise braking from 60-30 or 30-10mph.. just 10mph-0? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

my pads did that for awhile too, sounded like it was from the driver's side. I just figured they weren't broken in correctly, possibly a warped rotor. I still get the noise a little now almost a year later, but it was worse in the beginning. I plan on putting my stock rotors back on with my next pad change.

No. It is the pads. You are scortching your rotors. I had the EBCs. Search for my name in this forum and you will see that they are shitty pads. Ditch the pads and get hawks, axxis, or porterfield. Again, ditch the pads!!

yes it is the ebc pads. I had the same problem when I had mine. They arent rotor friendly. Take them off and replace them with something different.
I think they need to remove EBC from the shelf's
And where did you get the idea that you needed to clean the rotors with spray riley?

Before you install the pads, clean the caliper and rotors with brake cleaner. that is BEFORE you put the pads in the caliper!

When I got my brembo blanks the instructions said they have a protective coating on them and to use brake cleaner to get it off... I used about a whole can of brake cleaner when I did my brakes, that stuff smells goood!

depending on rotor manufacture some use a coating that is like glue and is a pain in the @$$ to get off. Others ues a coating that can come off with water. Either way its VERY important to remove all coatings that are present on the rotor. As for cleaing of the caliper and stuff it too is needed but only in the spots that the pads contact or on the slides that the caliper rides on. There are special lubricants that should be used on all these contact points. It serves 2 purposes. One as a lubricant to allow the part to move smoothley. Second it acts as a dampener for vibrations generated from the brake pads and helps reduce brake squeel. IMPORTANT note NO lubrication should ever get on the brake pads material that contacts the rotors surface!!
