Azenis out of stock AGAIN!??!
I can't help but say WTF!!!! These ****ing tires are out of stock more than they're in stock. Now back ordered until mid-february according to everywhere I called this weekend. AND those Falken *******s seemed to have raised the prices too. What is this crap... keep them out of stock so they can jack the price and make you wait? I know supply and demand, but ****, this is a little excessive. I may go for Kumhos just because every time I go to buy Azenis they're not available. You'd thing if the tire was that hot, they'd just make more of them.
lease:
:end bitching rant:
PS... if someone finds a place that FOR SURE has them in stock, tell me.

I just remembered..... If you do go with the MX, apparently it doesnt get as sticky as the Azenis untill you have a few hundred miles on it... The tire need to be worn in, or shaved to work its best.

Have you looked online or just at local shops?

I don't have a "local shop" If you count the retail location of Discount Tire Slimeballs, they don't stock them because its a "performance tire", and they claim they don't sell enough. (read: it won't fit any SUVs
). So they want to charge me special order fees and crap, and I told them to stuff it. My only option is Kumhos from Tire Rack or wait until Vulcan Tire or someone gets them back in.... which is prolly what I'll do because they're so damn cheap. I can buy Falkens and get them mounted for about the same as just buying the Kumhos.

77 a tire is bullshit. They were 71 a month ago. Not to mention I still gotta waste the money to get them mounted. That would have accounted for the price gouging comment, especially considering that no one else has raised the price...
I just got off the phone with Discount Tire, who openly admitted they raised the price, pretty much with no reason other than "because we can". Falken hasn't jacked it.... just their greedy asses. So now that they're charging $15 more per tire than virtually everyone else, sure they'll have them.

^^ your azenis lasted 2 years??? I burn through a set in little over a season and a half of autocross...
and we average 10 runs per event, with 24 events in a year with each run lasting between 40-60 seconds.... thats about thats 3.3 hours of track time... add in another 12 events, and that comes out to 4.9 hours of track time.... so I can destroy a set of Azenis in little more then 4.9 Hours....

The Azenis will out perform both the BGF T/A KD and the Eagle F1 GS-D3 in the dry. Why??? Both of those tires have softer side walls = more comfort = more tire roll over in the corners = Less performance in the corners. Plus the Eagle F1 only comes in a 195/50VR15, but you can get the BFG T/A KD in a 225/50YR15. the 225 will perform as well as the Falken Azenis 205/50-15, but the cost is what keeps people away from them (225/50YR15, $163 Vs 205/50-15 $65-70) why run a more expensive tire if its not faster. The only other tire I know of thats in the same leage as the Azenis (both price and performance) is the Kumho MX. But from talking to some STS guys at last weekends national event, they general concensis is that the Falkens are still slightly faster. Apparently Hankook tires is coming out with a tire built Specifically for STS, so it should be pretty good, but cost and performance has yet to be determined.
i'm thinking of trying the Kumho MX for road racing once I kill my brand new azenis
i heard that Kumho's might be better for road racing, since it takes longer to warmer up
the azenis will get too hot if u do more than 10 laps in a single sesson. the azenis will become too slippery when it gets too hot from what i heard

The azenis get greasy if you get them to 200+ Deg. If you do a lot of track days the MX would probably be the better choice, they dont overheat as quickly. But then the MX isnt as sticky untill you get 300+ miles on them (or have them shaved...).
