brake troubleshooting

Hey guys. i have a 2k2 ex coupe and i was wondering if i could get some help. I have about 45k miles on my car changed the pads around 22k and i'm getting this weird grinding sound from my brakes. This only happens after the brakes heat up. IE: the end of a drive.
i push the brakes and i hear this grinding sound like A low pitched grind. I know it's not the pad i had my local mechanic look at my pads and there's about 35% left. i actually saw it too. Either way i plan on changing the brake to some Hawks in about 2 months, i was just wondering if i needed to change the rotors with it.

BTW: i'm also going to change the tires from stock crap to some falken ziex-512.

any help is appreciated. thanks guys

well, if you get blanks, i'd just get oem replacements. if you're looking to spend the money, i guess brembo. cross drilled/slotted if you want, but not necessary.

check the wind felector that is behind the rotor. It could be rubbing on the rotor...
just bend it back some.

If everything looks physicaly ok it could be just nature of the beast. Some brands of braking material make more noise then others.

If you want blanks, do not get OEM ... Brembo blanks are better and cheaper.

If your rotors are not too terribly warped, you can have them easily turned. You will have to replace the pads as well, but that should restore your braking to normal.

Our cars have small rotors and warp fairly easily, so unless you change them aftermarket, keep it easy on the power stops, or be prepared to turn them and replace the pads a lot.

Kind of the curse of HONDA.

the curse of honda yes.. haha.. well umm kj thanks i'll check that out.. whatever it is.. i'm sure i'll see it.. but yeah.. i'd rather get aftermarket rotors over oem.. Everything OEm on our car is quite the P.O.S so i might as well change it. I dont' think that they're warped cuz the wheel doesn't vibrate.. it's just a grinding sound that i hear and feel in the brake pedal.. it still works and stops but that sound bugs.. Thanks for the replies

anyone know some good places for rotors?

the noise could also be caused by dust build up on and around the pads. Sometimes cleaning them with some brake cleaner will correct it too

Mex is a jewel in the roughMex is a jewel in the roughMex is a jewel in the rough
i just installed new rotors and pads back in early november. just recently, when I brake slowly at low speeds, i get a grinding noise (actually sounds more like a liquidy-boiling-grinding noise). The noise only lasts for maybe one second, which is right before I bring the car to a complete halt. I notice it happens more (or maybe only happens--) when the brakes have had time to cool.

the noise is either coming from the brake pads, or even possibly from the brake fluid reservoir itself. sitting in the drivers seat when you brake, it's hard to tell exactly where the noise is originating.

instinct tells me to bleed the brakes, but if you have any other suggestions, please. i've only used approved DOT3 fluid, except maybe 5 months ago i went with valvoline's DOT4 ABS fluid.

don't know if this is related, but i am also developing a squeak when braking now, too. all 4 pads are definitely thick. I am using slotted & dimpled ProStop rotors with EBC greenstuff.
