Tire Sizes????????
Tire Sizes????????
ok im gettin some new rims right, and i wanted to know what all the numbers meant on the tires. i know the last one is obviously the rims size. tell me the differnce between all these tires.
(225/40/18)
(215/35/18)
(235/40/18)
i know basically some are thicker and wider than the other but which one would be the best bet. i dont want the thinnest one. i want 18s with a little bit thick rubber.
thanks in advance

First number is the width in mm
2nd is the aspect ratio - its a percentage of the width that makes up the sidewall. (Width x aspect ratio %)/2 = sidewall height
3rd is the rim size
215/35 is the thinnest
225/40
then 235/40
I doubt that 225/40 will fit on a significantly lowered car.

Since you want a tire with some rubber, I would reccomend a 215/40-18. Like Boilermaker1 said the 225 will be a little too wide and may rub, so you can ignore those sizes.
Here is VnlilMAN's Civic, he has 215/40-18's to give you an idea.
