Rumour - Falken?!
Rumour - Falken?!
There's a lot of good comment about Falken Azenis/ Ziex
But I've heard that there's lot of compaint about its' duration,
- would slide easily after running 3000-4000 miles or above.
So for those people who have tried this more than 3000 miles,
how did you rank this tyre?!

Its a race tire that happens to be street legal. They're not designed to last... they're designed to stick. Unless you have some reason why you need race car grip all the time, its not really a great tire for the street. You might get 10K out of them if you granny drive.

Thats an issue with heat cycling.
every time a tire is heated to opperating temps and cooled, it gets slightly harder. so over the life of the tread, the compound will get less and less sticky. For street tires that allready have a hard compound you dont notice this much, but with a sticky and soft compound the change in traction is much more noticeable. What this means for the Azenis is that it will wear out its usfullness as a race tire Long before the tread is worn off. Weight plays a role here too, the heavier the car the quicker you'll heat cycle a tire to death example: WRX's running STX eat a set of Azenis about every 8 events (Some times less)..... where mine on my civic will last a whole year, of course this also depends on how hard you push them.
What you do with the tires greatly influences how long they last. drag racing appears to heat cycle tires much more quickly then autocross, autocross heat cycles tires quicker then track days, and track days heat cycle tires quicker then driving on the street.
this is just my opinion (an educated guess)
my reasioning
1. drag racing: Greatly heats the tires on launch, and after you go sit in line where the tires cool off again.
2. Autocross: you build up heat through the corners and after your run you go sit in Grid and the tires cool down between runs.
3. Road course, you build up heat through the corners, but unlike autocross that heat is retained through the whole race, so you heat cycle the tires less often.
4 street. you rarely get the tires up to temp, so heat cycleing is a very slow process here.
Personaly I love my azenis, and some times I neglect to take them off for a week after an event, so I have about 5000 miles on them. I konw that they dont stick as well as when they were new, but they still stick better then my street tires.
