First free oil change 2024 Honda Civic Touring 1.5T
Took my 2024 Honda Civic Touring in for the 1st free oil change included in the 2 years or 24,000 miles free oil changes included with the car. Does the attached picture look like oil with 20 miles on it? I believe they just topped it off because it was over filled and it wasn’t before I took. Another good reason I normally do it myself.

Yes literally drove it 20 miles home after the oil change. I’m not sure if they just topped it off or maybe they changed only the oil filter and topped it off. There is no way they drained it I don’t think. I didn’t have time to look at the filter but that may have been what they did. I’m just gonna change it myself like I always do. You can’t trust people to do good work when it’s not theirs they don’t care.

The oil life was at 60% on the maintenance minder but the dealer said $5,000 miles on the oil changes and they were free for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles so I went for that. Really don’t have much faith in people to do a good job anyway so this really makes me set on not getting the rest of the free oil changes. Anyone can slap a sticker on the windshield and say good to go.

Geez, 60% left? I let the oil meter on my 2018 run down to 5% before changing the first time. Something about break in additives and stuff in the original oil from the factory. I can't remember at this point because it was 6 years ago. The 11thgens have the same engine with a few slight changes.
I promptly told the dealership to pound sand for each and every add on they tried to tack on. I trust 5 people under the hood of my car, myself being one of them. Okay, these days like maybe 10, mostly bc I've let an aftermarket company tinker with my car, and there are a handful of people either actively on this forum or I met through this forum that I'd let tinker under my hood unsupervised.

yeh I kind of wonder if the tech felt this way about it and just didn’t change it. At the way it was progressing it probably would’ve hit 15% around 10,000 miles

Personal preference but I'll never not change mine at 5000km. I understand oil's vastly improved and I'm wasting money doing it this frequently but it works for me and that's all that really matters.
First time I had an oil minder was in my 2009 TSX and I hated how slowly it dropped. It took almost 25,000km to actually give me a warning. I think that's why it burned a little when I bought it.

I also own a 24 hatch touring, and I always change my own oil.....I have little confidence for others doing the job correctly, or even using the correct oil/filter. I changed the break-in oil at 1000 miles and planned to change each 5K miles, BUT have discovered the turbo, due to extreme heat, darkens the oil quite quickly......I just this week changed oil the second time at only 4K miles because it was so dark - not necessarily dirty, but darkened because of the turbo heat. However, in your case, the new oil should not be dark already. Just my opinion.
