Motor Current Sensor Circuit Malfunction
Motor Current Sensor Circuit Malfunction
I have a 2006 Civic hybrid with 137,000 miles on it.
A few weeks back, the engine light came on (not the IMA light--I never saw that one light up). I took it to Honda and they told me a motor may be failing. They recalibrated the motor but the service guy told me, if the calibration didn't work, they'd have to take out the transmission to fix the motor and that would cost more than the car's worth.
The car seemed fine when I left the service department but, about 30 minutes later, the engine light came on again and the car began struggling to move forward from a dead stop.
I've been trying to get an answer from anyone at Honda about what this motor/transmission would cost but no one will return my calls and other Honda service departments won't answer the question over the phone.
Any thoughts on how big/expensive a job this would be? I'm willing to put money into it if it makes sense. Not looking for a quote, necessarily; just some "Not as bad as it sounds" or "The car's gone" advice.
If it helps, paperwork says the diagnosis may be "P15A5 motor current sensor circuti malfunction."
Hope this helps and thanks in advance.
