AC evac/drain

Okay I'm not understanding something here. Before replacing the AC Compressor, the system needs to be drained of freon as well as refrigerant right? Drain the gas and drain the liquid. Am I understanding that right? I've gotta replace the compressor and Im just going to replace the evaporator and drier just because Im in there anyways and don't have an exact reason for my compressor failing. Better safe than sorry. I'm more than likely going to get a shop to drain it all, give me the car back to do the work and then have them recharge the system but just curious about the above question

Re: AC evac/drain

Freon and refrigerant are one and the same. There's oil in the old compressor that you drain out. Make sure the new compressor is filled with the correct oil and the correct amount
