Blinking "Maintenance Required" light

Hello All,

At around 105K miles my '04 Ex's "Maintenance Required" light began flashing at power up. The light will flash 10 times and go out.

I am wondering if this may be a result of some kind of preset that goes of as a reminder for routine maintenance when a certain mileage is reached, or if there may be some real problem?

Please let me know what you think.

Mileage counter. Oil change reminder. Either you are due, past due, or the last person to change oil didn't reset it.

Explained in your owners manual.

Key off
Push odometer reset button
Turn key on
Continue holding the reset button down until the light quits flashing. (about 10 sec)
Done.

Re: Blinking "Maintenance Required" light

But OP's blinking maint idiot light is not on because of major services due.

It's only on because the car has gone something like 5000 miles (or whatever the actual number is) since the light was last reset.

Re: Blinking "Maintenance Required" light

I think something wrong with mine.
My maintenance light is on also.
Usually I have the key in the off position turn the key on
while holding the button down but light is still on when I turn the car on.
I don’t know if the push odometer reset broken is messing up. I never had such a hard time reset it. Because the shop I going to never reset it . One time I ask them how to. They didn’t how to reset it. I had to google it my self .

Re: Blinking "Maintenance Required" light

And with the car totally off you need to hold the button down, turn the key to on (while still holding the button), dash will light up, maintenance light will blink once, and then keep holding until the light goes out

Re: Blinking "Maintenance Required" light

pretty common for the odo reset button to stop working.
Mine have not worked for like 10 years.
put a black tape on top of light
