New 2014 Honda Civic owner here with a 2.4L 4 cylinder. My wife drives this car 100+ miles everyday for work. What are the best modifications that improve MPG ? Post any ideas you may have please and thank you!
Check the air filter and ensure the tires are properly filled. You can even overfill them a little for better economy at the sacrifice of a little traction.
Awesome, thanks! I already have a high flow air filter in it with the tires at 40 PSI. I was thinking more along the lines of something like Pulstar plugs, a Tuner, cat delete, etc. But I just don't know what works best on Honda's.... What are the best computer controlled tuners I could buy, plugs, etc?
removing weight
most effective - correct driving habits
when coasting, downhill, completely release gas pedal - fuel injection cuts gas off
get a scangauge or similar that shows the instant gas consumption and adjust driving to get the most, preferably out of the left lane.
I love all the responses, but I don't drive the car and the wife won't listen! lol What are some bolt on performance mods or chips I can purchase? Any recommendations ?

I said scangauge, but there are OBD ports that can be connected to the cell phone bluetooth. You will only need install app torque.
Then a mount to fix cell phone to the windshield.
It will show the instant MPG/average in the phone, if she opens app.
tell her it can save some 200 bucks a year for her makeup if she can make the MPG go up. Women are more cash minded (if it does not involve saving on shoes and the likes, usually)
unsure about the 2014 ECU ability to be tuned. I have a 7th gen and the ECU is read only
If it is a 2014, she has all the information in front of her on the dash. Keep the blue/green lights on either side of the speedometer green (light foot) and she can watch her MPG "soar" on the information display.
I achieve my best results cruising the interstate, center lane, cruise set at 60 MPH.
My 2014 is a gasoline, non hybrid.
The way to achieve the numbers in the photo, you have to fill up and get right on the interstate, and keep the color GREEN!
If she has a heavy foot, there is nothing you can add to the car to fix that.
ah, sorry, 2014 already have it on the dash...
makes it easy.
About tuning:
my mods made the MPG much better, by 2-4 MPG.
However, it is because car gets to speed earlier. Soon as I get to desired speed, i feather the gas.
If driver is not changed, it will lose MPG regardless of tune.
Running car on an open track day meant 14MPG, on highway for 1200 miles, it meant 46MPG.
The 2.4L in the Civic Si can be tuned but not for MPG. You give up MPG for more GO.
I didn't realize that this was a Si. I didn't even know what engine was in my car until I looked in the manual (could not find it anywhere on/in the car...).
What I DO know is, I would NEVER buy a car that requires premium fuel!

Doesn’t Honda recommend premium for the Si?
Sorry, I thought you were OP for a moment, unless you also have an Si, then what I said still applies.
My car had some knocking in hot days stuck in traffic, so i started using premium during summer.
I actually saw a bump up in MPG. about1-2 MPG.
again, it also depends on how you drive the car.
