2015 with 50K miles humming sound at speed
My bone stock and babied 2015 Civic makes a humming sound between 35 and 65 mph. The sound is most prominent at 42 mph and seems to go away the faster you go.
The sound continues even if you shut off the engine and put it in neutral. Indicating a drivetrain issue or maybe cupped tires. CV joints are good. It sounds like the car has an exhaust rolling at 40 mph with the motor off.
What has been done:
1. Changed both front wheel bearings and sound continues.
2. Rotated tires and sound continues.
3. Mechanic says it might be the tranny. Then again he said it might the bearings and motor mounts.
I am educating myself on this car and read about the CVT tranny.
Are there codes or anything I should look for before I take it to a tranny specialist?
Any tests I can perform before I continue to throw good money after bad money?
Thanks

Could be your tires them selves.
do you have another set to toss on, to test with?
or a friend with a set?
...I had these nosy *** tires once that sounded like a skytrain taking off and stopping.
my boss had mudders that sounded like a swarm of bees, lol.

Yes. I was leaning towards the tires even though they don't appear cupped and are less than 3 months old.
They are Firestone All season Radials.
They were rotated but never swapped.
Time to pull out the jack.

Did you get the rear wheel bearings checked out?
This car should not be falling apart this quickly???
