Hi, my friend has and is looking to swap in a jdm b18c3 motor into his 1993 civic dx hatch but is having trouble finding a transmission for it. Is it okay for him to use a usdm b18c3 transmission or does it also have to be a jdm transmission? What else might he need to do or purchase to swap it in. Is there also any fabrication work to be done or anything that might be removed other than the ac compressor? The motor currently in the car is a d15b7. Thanks

That's an incredibly rare engine. Are you sure you have the code right?

It was never offered in North America. Pretty much any B-series trans ever will bolt up to it.

my friend has a photo of the engine but is in a bad angle to see the engine code sticker. but if you look at the photo the information at least is in Japanese. I dont know if this helps but if it does, thanks

Yeah, nothing there helps me in the slightest. All I can see is that it’s a VTEC b series.

Does your buddy know how to check the engine code or was the code simply what he was told when he bought it?

That’s a GSR engine. Much more common but still awesome. The YS1 is geared short so it should be pretty quick. Highway driving will suck though.

Would there be any considerable complications to this swap? I think the s20 is hydro while the ys1 is cable. This is the owner.
