Weird belt chirping [solved]
Weird belt chirping [solved]
I have an alternator belt chirping (definitely not squealing like its loose) so I switched to a non A/C belt and sound went away. Thinking it had to be the A/C pulley I installed new one with bearing, put new alternator belt on and still have same noise. I then sprayed alternator belt with wd-40 and sound goes away immediately but comes back the next day. Today sprayed it lightly and although chirping sound went away a clicking noise took its place. Sprayed a little more and the clicking went away. The problem too is it made the sound on the old belt and now the new belt so not not sure what getting another belt would prove. Maybe try tightening alternator belt even though it feels tight enough now? Anyone else have a problem like this?

If it's not an oe belt definitely try tightening it.
also check that the pulleys are clean with no damage

Well, I just tried tightening belt and no change. I then removed power steering belt and still had noise so I put the non A/C belt on once more and noise was gone. I then spun the new A/C pulley by hand and no noise. The new Continental A/C-ALT belt looks perfect. But I'm going to order Bando belt from Rock auto for $10 shipped and see if that solves it. If it does I then have to charge the A/C with a can of refrigerant because mine isn't blowing cool air at all and compressor is definitely engaging.

You should measure the pressures on both sides with the A/C on first. Just adding more refrigerant can do more harm than good.

I installed the Bando alternator belt today and no more chirping sounds. Bando makes the belts for Honda so they're OEM and that made all the difference. So I had 2 belts chirping and 1 was brand new and I was going nuts trying to figure out why seemingly good belts would be making noise. Now I know, only use Bando alternator belts lol.
