did you check if there's any already in it? do you have a proper set of manifold gauges or the crappy single one that comes with the can?

If trying to fill an empty system did you pull a vacuum and check for leaks first?

Re: A/C issue need HELP

It would cool only going down the highway at first so I attempted to put more refrigerant in.(already made sure BOTH aux fans were on at idle). System would not take in any (the can did not get cold at all). Vent temp did not change. So I bled some off thinking maybe it was overcharged... I would guess not because then it would not get cool even on the highway..

I did some reading and it sounded like expansion valve may be bad. So I dismantled under glovebox and replaced expansion valve and flushed system out and no apparent crud came out. Then pulled a vacuum which it held. Again attempted to put in some 134 to no avail...

Reading pressures on both sides with a proper gauge would help troubleshoot.

I put a set of gauges on it but not sure if they are accurate.. low side was high and high side was around 100 maybe more, but not a lot...

Re: A/C issue need HELP

Get readings while the A/C is on. After sitting for a while both sides will be about the same pressure, I believe around 100 PSI. Once the compressor kicks in the low side should drop and the high side will rise.
