Crank no start

Hello, so i bought a 2001 civic ex 5 spd for 400$, it has 236k miles (the preivous owner said it has bad water pump and skipped timing. . The car cranks but no start, i tested spark, fuel and its good when i did compression test cylinder 4 was at 115psi and the rest at 50-65, i added oil still no change on the psi. i looked at timing it looked fine took out the water pump looked practically brand new. pulled the head out to look at pistons it looked fine and i looked at the valves they looked fine to me. Are the valves bad? i checked for valve lash some of them were pretty loose and some were tight (not all of them though). the head gasket looked new but between cylinder 2-3 it looked to be scuffed. some one changed the gasket because it wasnt oem. will the car start after replacing the headgasket and fixing valve lash?? do i have a bigger problem looking at the pictures? i havent put the car back together because i havent got my headgasket yet. what could be the problem? any solutions????

Re: Crank no start

it seems like you don`t have compression because valves gap. is your car model EX?, because you have to leave some lash for the VTEC system.

Re: Crank no start

ok, those numbers are good. might be piston rings. other than valves measurement i don`t know what else could be.

Re: Crank no start

is there a way to visually look at the piston rings to tell if there bad or will i have to take apart the whole piston?

Re: Crank no start

one way is to wiggle pistons from the top and see how much gap they have. also for some noticeable oil leak in to the combustion chamber.

Valves are probably bent. Bring the head to a machine shop
