No start no crank issues
No start no crank issues
Howdy
have a 2004 civic si that is not starting. There has been a whole bunch of different problems and I will explain in order they happened
problem started with a crank/no start. Engine would turn over hard, sounded very healthy. I recently just changed my ignition switch (which gave the same crank/no start problem). But has since been replaced and ran with no issues. Key light is off so I know it’s not the immobilizer.
So I decided to change the fuel pump because I noticed a bit of a misfire recently when initially starting.
Changed the fuel pump with no problems. This is where things got confusing.
Connected battery, tried starting and it fired right up. Ran for maybe 10 seconds, and it shut off. And my alarm started screaming. The horn was going off and the cluster lights were flashing, relays were firing like a war zone. (I didn’t even know my car had an alarm until now, had the car two years and have never heard it)
so looking into this I learnt i have been locked out because the car thought there was a theft attempt.
so I looked into how to get it out of that. Learnt it could be a faulty sensor on the doors. Looked around and driver side pressure switch was pushed into the door. Took it out and put it back, seems to be working just fine.
but I am still locked out of the car. Learnt there are two ways to do this. Radio code and driver door lock. I have an aftermarket stereo and could not figure out the radio code. And my driver side door cylinder was jammed up. (Nothing but problems I know)
So I took it apart and took a few wafers out, turns and locks just fine.
did the key sequence of locking and unlocking 3 times.
this worked and my alarm is no longer screaming, I put my horn fuse back in and that issue has seemed to be fixed.
but now I have a no crank/no start issue. No sounds of any relays or anything, dash turns on, key light goes away, and nothing happens.
Little recap. Crank/no start - alarm sounding/no crank/no start - now alarm is off/no crank/no start
fuel pump has been changed.
replaced main relays.
All fuses checked with test light
battery tested and proven good by auto shop Ignition switch replaced.
Starter was cranking hard with no unusual noises day before new pump was is. Struggling to see how it could be the starter
All new spark plugs and ignition coils in April
All majors connections checked and look fine (battery, alternator, starter, engine/tranny ground)
any help would be greatly appreciated
EDIT: forgot to mention I scanned and got no codes. Or any pending codes. Which is weird because there was an engine light for an o2 sensor before. I’m not sure if it resets when battery is off? And has to run again to throw the code? I heard if it can’t scan at all it’s an ecu problem. Which is the last thing I want

edit: while I was breaking my back getting the alarm out figured I would look at the clutch switch. Looks completely fine, came out all the way, bumper still there.

Re: No start no crank issues
Not tested, but it was cranking hard till it killed my battery the first day.
Day after I did the fuel pump and after charging the battery this happened.
so I’m struggling to see how it could be the starter?
