80 amp blowing and Alternator white cable shorted [information]
I know a lot of ppl have had this and go crazy looking for a short so for my experience I did a head gasket job cleaned everything including the alternator and so when I put everything back on once I connected the battery the 80 amp fuse blew. Looked thru the harness inspected didn’t see no shorts and it came to it that I started connecting one by one to see when the fuse blew and it was the alt. Opened it up and did see the rectifier and diodes was corroded and didn’t look like it was connecting like if it melted. (Alt was working before head gasket) so I’m guessing I caused that damage washing it w degreaser and water. Bought a new alt in hopes and with proof the short was internal to the alt and buahlah car has power everything’s good. Hope this post was helpful. I did make sure each ground was stable and clean brushed, looked thru every wire to see no exposed ones, and cleaned every connector. So who knows maybe the cleaning helped na just kidding that alternator was fried yo lol peace Damaged alternator causing a short to the system Burnt diodes and rectifier D17 05 Civic

These cars are picky with aftermarket electronics. Don't be surprised if the new alternator gives you problems after a couple months (sometimes immediately)
