2002 honda civic lx crank no start.

Engine overheated ran fine a week or two then stalled driving down highway. Started it got home fine. Next day go to store (started easily). Store is 3 blocks away. Come out start it then died. Try again just fires up then dies. Will not start after that. Check fuel pump starter relay and main relay all good. Battery is weak can't test under hood, brother brings a truck battery 800+ CCAmps acts weak (new) leave maintainer on it to test fire. Pull coils to check plugs drowned in oil. Replace plugs and air filter after removing oil, wipe coils down spray starting fluid into throttle body. Forgot to mention i bought correct battery by this time. Still crank no start tries to fire but not quite. I notice flashing green key on dash don't remember it previously there. Try to start green key flashes two or three times goes away no engine light no start key flashes numerous times after turning ignition off even after key is disengaged. Been down over a month get conflicting ideas on youtube. Please help.

Flashing green key means immobilizer issues

I know, I've tried 3 different methods to reset it with no luck. The thing is the key is solid not flashing when ignition is turned on and goes away like it should after it reads the key. Why does it flash 5 timrs after ignition is turned off? Also i reset a black button under the dash on drivers side right behind the hood latch release. Can't remember what it resets but I saw it earlier on youtube. What does the immobilizer inhibit that prevents it starting? If its fuel its not the immobilizer cause there is fuel pumping through the line.

The damn thing almost started then the battery started lagging. It acts like its not getting enough air intake.

It cuts spark. There's no quick fix/reset, either you need to swap the computer, immobilizer, and key from another car that's exactly the same as yours (All 3 components have to come from the same car), or you need to take it to the dealer for reprogramming and repair. With the car overheating you most like have a bad headgasket.

I have fuel, fuel pressure, spark, time, compression. Not sure about air. Put the breather back on and it acted like it was choked out. The oil in the cylinders blew into the throttle body and I cleaned it out. A buddy said he had a car once that got the catalytic converter so stopped up it had to be replaced. Makessense cause that's how it acts and sounds. Like I said it does have spark AND continuity. Any thoughts?

check if there is not a rat's nest in your air box.
plugged cats you can check by loosening the pipes before the cat to let pressure escape. If it works, your ca is plugged.
when you turn ignition to on, does you hear the fuel pump priming? if yes, don't worry about green key light

Yeah I have fuel pressure pump is under the back seat and it shot into the front seat lol. I did find a mouse or rat nest behind the cabin air filter. The air intake before the throttle body has something on it also but I had it taken off already. Didn't see the other nest til after trying to start it so I hope thats it. If it is the catalytic converter then at least its right on the front of the manifold before the main exhaust. I appreciate your time sir. I'm still recharging my battery so it will be in the morning before I can proceed any further. Come to think of it that battery is brand new and losing charge fast
Any thoughts on that? Alternator seems fine and is well grounded.. i have a ground connected well from the radiator to the frame but its kinda wore through
Almost halfway on both ends.. Possible bad ground source??

could be.
also, the rat's nest is really not a joke... during winter, it's a warm place for critters to nest...
There is also several reports of rodents chewing the wiring on Hondas...

So, looks like you have a parasitic draw somewhere, you will need to chase it down. do you know how to use a multimeter?

I know firsthand the damage inflicted by rodents. My late wife had a Toyota Corolla and mice chewed thru the wiring harness in several spots. They nested in the car after heavy rains here caused flooding issues. The coating on the wires was soy based so mice were naturally inclined to eat it. I had a Chevy Cobalt at the same time that mice had made a nest in. They destroyed the wiring harness on this also.

Re: 2002 honda civic lx crank no start.

check the fuse box with the multimeter to find where the parasitic draw is (quickest method for checking wiring health for areas linked to fuse box)

and feel sorry you had previous encounters with rodents... Sometimes people think we are joking...
