No crank No start HELP

I have a 2001 civic 2dr auto. Car died on me one day going to work. After asking some folks about my situation they suggested replacing the starter. I pulled the old one brought it to Oreilys and they put it on the tester and it was dead. Got the new one put it in. When I went to start it it sou ds like the starter motor is the only think making noise. Engine is not seized up but engine wo t crank over. All fuses are good and has fuel and spark.

Re: No crank No start HELP

Use the crank pulley to turn the engine over. Remove all the spark plugs to eliminate any resistance.

Or post a video of what it sounds like.

Re: No crank No start HELP

the engine does not turn over when you crank it. I went and got a new starter and had the parts store bench test it in front of me to ensure it works as intended. There has got to be something preventing enough power to get to the starter so it can turn over the engine?

Re: No crank No start HELP

I tried to post a video of what it sounds like but the forum doesn't like the format my phone takes videos in lol. But to describe the sound, it just sounds like the starter motor is spinning and not engaging.

Re: No crank No start HELP

My guess is that it's actually cranking but there's no compression. Snapped timing belt?

no timing belt isn't snapped. When I have someone try and start the car and watch what happens i hear the starter motor spinning and I watch for the pulleys to spin when the motor would be spinning but nothing spins. Its almost like the starter motor isint engaging but it did on the bench test. Ive tried tapping with a hammer whils someone tries to start it thinking maybe its stuck but that didnt work either and its getting power.

I have and the flywheel looks good. Nothing is chewed up and engine isn't seized up either.

Re: No crank No start HELP

Automatic and manual starters are different, are you sure you have the correct one?

I made sure I got the right one. It is a reman starter though. I've so seen where I can try to turn the flex plate slightly as the starter .ay not be lining with the flex plate

Re: No crank No start HELP

That shouldn't matter, that's why the teeth on the starter are bevelled. Reman just might be junk
