2002 Civic No Start

We just did a timing belt in a friend's 02 Civic 1.7 litre I believe. Car ran fine for about 50 miles or so, the next day, he got in it drove to the corner, and it died. I tried to pull codes today but there were none present. This is not the first timing belt job either of us have done, so I'm thinking there is some sort of small, stupid problem. Loose wire? Misaligned crank or cam sensor? Anyone have any ideas before we have to pull it apart again? If one of the sensors were a problem wouldn't it throw a code?

Thanks

Dave

well if it is cranking but not starting, check for fuel pressure at the rail to begin with. and please, dont just pull the fuel line and crank the engine and say it is good if you see fuel, that doesnt mean ****. you need actual readings.

if pressure is good, check for spark.

No Start

We checked the spark, which was weak and sporadic. I turned out to be the new timing belt had slipped a few notches and we are trying to figure out why. If anyone has any input on that I'd appreciate hearing it. Thanks...

I would suggest replacing the tensioner. if it slipped, the belt is too loose.

Tensioner

Thanks. The belt was tight after it slipped. We set up the tensioner as per the Haynes manual, is there any special trick to it? It seemed tight when we put it together the first time. It seems to be automatically adjusting via the spring attached to it. I appreciate the input. We are replacing the tensioner this time too.
