Auto tranny troubles!! help!!
ok, so ive got a 2004 EM2 with an auto tranny - that has about 23K miles on it. It started acting up a while ago, so I changed the tranny fluid around 21-22K miles....it helped maybe just a TINY bit, but now its acting up alot more.
1) When in Reverse, idling in park, and idiling in neutral it seems to "shake" or "vibrate" very hard - shaking the whole car.
2) Driving, it shifts pretty hard, and jerks alot.
3) Also, when driving - it doesnt seem to want to .....shift up? When you get to cruising speed, and let off the gas, instead of the engine being in the regular RPM's it seems to be at higher RPMs - like youve down shifted i guess? but it holds it there.
4) It also seems to be "jerky" when making tight turns and accelerating - that one Im not to sure about.
Honestly, Im kinda stumped. I'm taking an automatic, and manual transmission class at the college I'm at. And thus far, I cant come to any clear conclussion about whats wrong with it.
I do occasionally drive it hard, but not so hard that it would go out around 25 - 30K miles
Your help is appreciated before I do finally take it in to Honda for them to look at...

hmmm i drive hard all the time and i have like 22,000 miles on it and my tranny is fine, no fluid changes or anything.....its just the shitty honda tranny's, when you get a new one which you will have too just get a tranny fluid cooler, i heard that helps a little but it depends

you act surprised? its already been explained a million times, there is a defect in one of the clutch pack carriers. its wears down, trans starts to slip, trans goes boom. time for a new one. its hondas fault for using cheap parts, not yours.

i realize its hondas fault,...but that doesnt mean they wont try to pin it on me, and get me to pay for a new one. As apposed to them just saying "yup, our bad - that'll be warranty work."

just curious though....how would intake directly/indirectly affect the transmission? its not like an SRintake .....or ANY intake at that gives our D17's enough power to screw with it?
^you'd be suprised what kind of fuss the dealership brings up as reasons for manufactuer faults. last time my buddy brought his rsx in when his suspension felt "loose and woobly", they tried to tell him it was his sri intake.
i can bet they'll try to use the muffler/intake/springs as the reason. i doubt wheels

the dealership blamed my exhaust system on the head gasket. and when they forgot to put enough oil in the car well guess what, they said this is why we dont like modded cars. haha i wanted to slap the guy.

Took it in today - immedietly the service writer looked at my car and says "What modifications do you have to it? So we know if your warranty still applies." So I told her performance springs, muffler, intake, wheels/tires.
Then she started to tell me how if she had a car like mine, she wouldnt modify it until it wasnt under warranty. The usual dealership bullshit
So i left it there and they inspected it - got a call around 4pm about it.
Turnsout my motor-mounts were broken *hints the Karumba FTW* and it IS UNDER WARANTY .
i get my car back either tuesday or wednesday when they get the mounts in.

just curious, what causes the mounts to go?...usually

Yeah, I guess I could see the mounts go so soon with our ridiculously powerful D17's
oh...i was looking at Edmunds earlier.....why does the automatic have 2more hp the than a stick? *auto = 117hp, stick = 115hp*
I know it doesnt make any REAL difference, cause stick is faster anyway - but i would think they would either have the same hp, or auto would have less

haha even with 90ish whp im running about the same times as my brother in his even-more moded EM2
Him - CAintake, full exhaust *headers, dp, custom 2.25 piping*, tein S-techs, wheels/tires, ground kit, Revo SS
Me - AEM SRintake, "axle-back" exhaust, Neuspeed Sport springs, at the time stock wheels/tires *now have rotas - so I'd like to run him again, made a bigger different than expected* AND at the time, I had ALL my school books, and my tools in my car *which togethor weigh about 85-95lbs
and he's a good driver too, so its not like he cant drive a stick
even being an auto - I think I can hit the mid-high 16's n/a
