Outer CV joint boot question
Outer CV joint boot question
Hello Everyone,
Car is a '97 LX, 5SPM, with ABS.
The outer steel straps that secure the CV boot to the CV joint, one of them is missing, the other side was loose.
Under the rubber boot, at the big end, there is some kind of (plastic?) cup, or some insert, just under where the strap would be.
What is that thing? I have never seen anything like that before. The service manual does not mention it.
I do have new metal straps, but I am hesitant to put them on as that cup seems to interfere with the proper securing of the boot.
Any clue there?
What about using zip-ties for securing the boot?
Thanks, Peter
