Shift Lock Release Problem
Shift Lock Release Problem
My shifter was locked in park today. I put my key into the lock release, and was able to shift into Neutral. My owner's manual says I should've been able to start my car, but I attempted to start it and there was no response at all.
I disconnected and reconnected the battery, and the shifter was released. I started my car and drove around the block, parked, and shut the car off.
The problem is back now, help?

Re: Shift Lock Release Problem
See if the brake lights don't come on at the same time the shifter won't release.
Brake light switch would be the most common problem I've seen here, followed by drink spillage into the shifter area gumming up the works.
