p0118 code after replacing head gasket; 2000 civic
ruptured coolant hose, overheated, blown head gasket.
Everything back together, new gaskets, timing belt, pump, tensioner, etc. Started up, checked for leaks, let run about 10 minutes then the engine started surging. (Sounded like a long distance runner gasping for air) Checked for vacuum leaks, fluids leaking etc. Went inside car and CEL was activated. RPM's surging 800- 1400. Shut down connected scan tool.
ERROR CODES P1509 & P0118 Cleaned IAC and checked the temp connections.
After cleaning IAC, engine ran 30 minutes and no surging BUT p0118 remains a problem. Radiator fan will not turn on. Jumper wired the fan and fan is good. Jumped the two temp switches but the fan would not run.
Any ideas where to start the troubleshooting procedure. I won't risk driving with a coolant fan that won't run. Thanks for any help.
