Maybe im blind as a bat and cant find any information but does anyone know if the head needs to be removed to replace the upper inner timing cover, i have the part ordered (somehow i found it) and its suppose to get here way later then i plan to put on the head but in need the car to be driveable asap, i understand that the car needs it but i was just gonna leave the old and a little melted one on till i could get the new one
Are you talking about item 7 in this pic? I seem to remember the camshaft having to be removed (or at least the pulley) to get that piece out. It's been a while though.
yeah thats the one, i just thought you didnt have to remove the head but i just wanted to see if anyone has done it and knew just go be safer, bc ik engine can be difficult like that, and i wouldnt wanna waste that time putting it on just take it off a week later,
You definitely don't have to remove the head. I think timing belt/tensioner and then the cam pulley in order to get that out. If it were me, I'd probably be ignoring it unless it were causing some obvious issues.
