pressure in cooling system
pressure in cooling system
hey ya'll. ive got a problem with my cooling system in my 99 ek. got the stock d16y8 and its building pressure and pushing coolant into my resevoir and got no heat but it doesnt overheat unless idling and the fans dont come on at idle. i bled the system with new coolant and flushed my resevoir and put Rislone stop leak for cooling systems in and its been fine for a few days(fans coming on) until last night. no black film in the resevoir and no milky oil. anyone know whats going on? i have the headgasket at my shop cause i know its gonna have to be done at some point so if thats the issue then ill replace it asap. also let it idle for almost 10-15 mins and it didnt overheat but i checked the rad today and no coolant and my resevoir was almost full to the top.
Re: pressure in cooling system
Ya the hondas usually fail with exhaust gas venting into the coolant causing over pressurization. Rear to see oil in coolant.
-probably due for the head gasket
-Make sure the thermostat and fans and fan switch/temperature sensor are good too, because you dont want the new gasket to fail if it was caused by overheating.
