HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. i have a d16y5 with a y8 head intake and throttle body. i recently replaced my iacv and found a piece of duct tape in the old one.
i was confused but i installed the new one and thought it would run much better. Instead, the car revd’ and idles at 2300 rpms. i bled the coolant a adjusted the idle screw and nothing worked. I took it off, put the piece of duct tape back in and it idles like regular. 1200 rpms. any explanation for what is happening. everything should work fine wtf is the duct tape clogging?!
Haha, When i bought my car i had the same problem but it was cardboard. replace your IACV or try cleaning it so that the plate can move freely. For me i tried cleaning it but that didnt work so i just went ahead and replaced it and it worked fine. I did have to replace my distributor as well cause apparently that was part of the problem? Not sure how my mechanic said theres some type of idle circuit in it that was broken or something.
