p1259 code (solenoid and connectors replaced)

Hey All,

I have a recurring p1259 code that keeps popping up no matter what I do. I've replaced the oil and filter (and made sure it was at its proper level), I've replaced the connectors with new ones and tested them with a multimeter, and I've also replaced the vtec solenoid with a known working one (and I checked the filter to make sure it wasn't clogged before installing). I'm at my wits end. The below description of the code setting stays the same no matter what repair I've tried. The only thing I havent done is replace the oil pressure switch.

Now, I think its important to note that the code sets right after I start the car after its been sitting overnight or a few days (cold start). The idle surges up a bit around 1500 and then it goes up and down for a bit and then the code sets. No driveability issues other than I can't rev passed 4 or 5k, I didn't check the tach to see where the rev limiter hits but its up there some where. If i reset the code after the engine has been warmed up, the code will NOT set until the above has been repeated (it's been sitting overnight and its a cold start). The code does NOT set if I rev it up to redline after clearing the code. Could it possibly be the IAC? Or should I replace the oil pressure switch?

There are zero other issues. No weird noises, and no other issues are present, whether the code is set or not (other than the rev limiter kicking in when the code is set).

Thanks everyone in advance for any help.

In the new solenoid? It was cleaned before installation by the seller (looks like they used brake cleaner or TB cleaner). And it might be important to note that its not an aftermarket one, it was pulled off of a junked car.

Re: p1259 code (solenoid and connectors replaced)

In my research, I did find that if the code sets right after starting the car its most likely an electrical issue. If it sets when revving to the point where the vtec would kick in, that its a solenoid or oil issue. Any truth to this?
