Busted head bolt fixes and if it relates to leaking coolant
Hey guys, just recently got a 97 civic coupe Si, finally got the chance to take a good look at it after I noticed my car was overheating. Topped it up with coolant and all seemed fine for about a week. Kept my eye on the overflow tank but yesterday I noticed it was overheating but the overflow tank was fine. Took off the cap and saw that the radiator was low on coolant??
Then I went digging around trying to see where it was leaking from (snapped 2/3 heat shield bolts) and the noticed that one of the head bolts were snapped. Anyone know of a way to seal it off so I at least don’t have stuff leaking into the engine? This is the snapper head bolt in question
Re: Busted head bolt fixes and if it relates to leaking coolant
That's just a valve cover bolt, vastly different than a head bolt. Only thing that would contribute to would be oil loss through the valve cover gasket, if any
edit: you might want to replace it though. You'd have to pull the valve cover off and extract the remaining part of the screw that in the rocker arm. Part number for that screw with the washer is 90011-P2A-000

either that, or hope there's enough of the threaded portion protruding from the camshaft bearing caps that you can get a good grip with a pair of vise grips
