New here please help.

So like ten hours ago I bought a ‘98 EX Coupe. Not my first Civic. I had an ‘06 Si before and it was problem CENTRAL. I bought this car and while it may be ugly it ran solid. Like 10/10. Everything was good. I got it home and my best friend (who also drives a Civic) came to look at it. When I was reviving the engine (it’s not tagged yet ok so it was parked) it just DIED. We tried everything from putting gas in it (none of the gauges work &#128580, no fix. Adding starter fluid. No fix. Jumping it, no fix. When I put it on the “on” setting it whirrs so the fuel pump has power at least. I’m leaning towards a fuel issue or maybe even spark plugs? It definitely leaks oil but that’s definitely not the problem here. It isn’t electrical for sure. It’s 10/10 not the starter. So that leads me to think fuel pump? Fuel relay? Spark plugs? Idfk at this point. Any opinion welcome.

Does it sound like it has compression when it is cranking? CEL on? Are all you ground cables tight?

Ground cables are tight, CEL IS on. Throws a code for the throttle position sensor. Yes, I do I believe it has compression when it’s cranking. But I really don’t know a whole hell of a lot so I could be wrong.

2:40 AM. It did get way colder and start snowing since the first video. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it? But I figured I’d throw that in there.

Re: New here please help.

A bad TPS could be the issue or a bad crank position sensor. I would start checking those.

Timing belt could have skipped a tooth and the timing could be off.

My uncle came to check it out and the timing belt has most definitely slipped. So Sunday we’re going to fix that and while we’re under the hood fix the TPS too.

I knew she was going to be a project but I didn’t expect major problems before I even put insurance on her haha.

Also, this bad boy is from my power steering belt. So well fix that as well.
