Hey guys so I got a 98 civic ex coupe manual and for some reason the other day when i used my key to unlock my door my alarm started going off. I went to put my key in the ignition and start my car to turn off the alarm but my car won’t start. Not sure what to do. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

cranks? doesn't crank? got spark?

Doesn’t make any noise like there’s a kill switch or something. When I open my door my car alarm dings and lights on odometer light up. When I put the key in and turn it it stops but the car won’t start or anything. No cranks, stutter nothing

ok, does your clutch switch still work?

Yes I can still push in my clutch. And I haven’t tried since I live on a hill and didn’t want to have to push it back up if it didn’t work. And you think a bump start would work even though my alarm still goes off and when I turn the key in the ignition nothing happens?

So wait, the dash lights up with no key in the ignition, just the door opening?

Any recent auto services or modifications?

Is there an aftermarket anti theift?

The bump start would narrow the issues down to a starter problem. So you would now that the ecu, injectors, sensors, fuses and wiring are working; other than what ever is causing the starter problem (including starter failure itself)

Correct. My alarm originally started going off a couple days ago but whenever I have my doors closed and leave it alone it stops. But soon as I open my door it starts up again. The lights will start flashing and the horn will start going and you’ll hear beeping.

And as far as aftermarket stuff not to sure about much just bought the car. It does have a after market stereo though I believe. So I’m thinking when they put the stereo they put in the alarm and anti theft.
