Re: need help 99 civic ex

14's unless it is not charging the battery
Honda alternator turns off if no charging needed
that prolly one of the reasons aftermarket alternators does not work with Hondas.

Re: need help 99 civic ex

A fully charged battery is just a hair over 12V if I recall correctly, so it sounds like you don’t have a functional alternator.

OEM only. Junkyard is better than a cheaper new aftermarket.

Re: need help 99 civic ex

What Colin42 just said in post 9,328. It is like climbing a steep mountain. Take sure steps to get to the answer, logically. One step at a time.
Anything else will probably just waste your money and time.

I would add that it is probably not a short if you have not blown the fuse... and you said that the fuse isn't blown.

I am currently dealing with what appears to be an open in my harness. I wasted a lot of time and money replacing parts before I started taking more certain troubleshooting steps.
Mine could be a cut wire (that is not shorted) or it could be a bad connection.
