1998 Dx temp gauge wondering.
I have a 1998 civic DX. about a month ago the temp sensor for the gauge failed. I was dew for some maintenance so i did the T-belt, water pump. thermostat, sensor, oil change, trans flush and cooling system flush.
Now the temp gauge raises to normal vary quickly after starting cold and after warming up it will wonder from normal up to just below the red. I can plug in my OBD2 scanner and everything is work normal. Warms up alike normal Fan kicks on at 206 and off at 196. No loss of power, runs grate and same MPG as before all this happening. I have tried 3 different temp sensors and 3 thermostats thinking it was maybe a bad part but keeps doing the same thing. The only thing i can think is when the OEM sensor failed it damaged the gauge.
The car is 99% stock. The only non factory parts are the 3 row rad, silicone hoses kit and a JDM gauge cluster.
I should mention that when the sensor it temp gauge was pinned to hot as soon as the key was turned on.
