I had an issue with the fuel gauge so I ordered a new 78130-S00-A61 fuel gauge/temp gauge assembly. The fuel gauge now works but the temp gauge reads at about 90% (not red but not far away).
I put the other one back in with the bad fuel gauge and the reading is what I expect about 1/3 the way. I inspected the components on both temp gauges and they are the same value. The temp gauge starts at the bottom but hits steady state at the 90%.
All I can think of is that the gauge is bad ? Any ideas ??? old temp gauge new temp gauge side by side
the unit was bought off Amazon and its a genuine Honda part. I cannot adjust the armature. On the original fuel gauge I wanted to take the gauge off but when I pulled up on the needle it snapped off ..meaning it was not press fit on but glued. If I could transfer the old temp gauge to the new assembly I would but Im pretty sure if I was to pull up it would also snap.
Well a people indicated, the new one I had received was bad...i got it replaced and both the fuel and temp are working great. In the process, I snapped the needle on the speedometer (&^*(^&) but thanks to a hot glue gun I repaired it ! One other thing I found is that I could not read the gauges well at night... Turns out there are 2 bulbs on top that point down. I was able to buy a pack of 10 (#74 bulbs) at O'Reilly's for $8 and voila everything works perfect.
Thanks for all the advice.
