Rep Power: 0 Pedal still goes to the ground...
Hi,
I have a 1998 Honda Civic DX. Noticed the pedal goes all the way down to the ground and it I could not lock m brakes from slamming it to the floor.
I BEFORE bought a new Master Cylinder on Amazon, I bench bled the original OEM with hoses from the 2 ports back into the reservoir. Installed it and bled the brakes from Passenger Rear, Driver rear, Passenger front, driver front. I used both vacuum bleed as well as traditional pump/hold and open bleeder because with the vacuum it was sucking in air behind the bleeder making it hard to see where the bubbles were coming from. After doing the vacuum, I went for a drive and felt the same. After the pump/hold and open bleeder, it felt the same. With the pump/hold and open bleeder, I did see solid
AFTER bench bleeding the new master cylinder as above, it still feels the same.
Both times I went through at least 1.5Q of brake fluid.
What is going on here?? It's not my first time bleeding brakes so I dont know why its being so tedious...
Suggestions everyone??
Thanks

Re: Pedal still goes to the ground...
Hmmm....do you have ABS on that car? I've had cars where I replaced the cylinder, bled the brakes, and had to engage the ABS by doing a hard stop to get it to cycle and then it fixed the pedal problem. Unless you somehow got a bad brake cylinder, I am not sure what else to think.
