We've got a 2005 Civic EX in pretty great shape. A couple years ago we had a major leak in the car and did some testing and found that the trunk seal had a couple holes in it, so we replaced the trunk seal and thought we were good. We drilled a hole in the bottom of the spare tire well just in case water were to build up in there again.
We discovered we still have a bit of a leak when we went to test it yesterday, but we can't figure out where it's coming from. I'm attaching a picture of where we're seeing the leak in the back left of the trunk. We thought perhaps it was coming from the left 'gutter' (for lack of a better word) at the top of the car where the rubber fitting is missing. But we worked on pouring water only directly into this spot and it didn't create the same leak.
There is a moon roof, but there is zero leakage there (nor are there any stains that might indicate a leak previously. When pouring water directly on that and feeling around that moon roof ledge on the inside, there is no water.
We're wondering if anyone is familiar with this type of leak, where it's coming from, and if there is a way to fix or if it's just a symptom of the car itself
or its age.
