I can't open the hood on a Honda Civic 2005 LX
The button I normally have to pull to hear the click before opening the hood broke a couple of days ago. I didn't hear the click I normally hear (when the hood lifts up a little) so hood is still closed. I tried to use a wrench to pull that wire that is normally attached to the button that broke but nothing happens. I also tried to push the lever above the Honda sign with a flat level screwdriver towards my right but it also didn't help. Is there any way of opening the hood without the help of a mechanic?

You need to get behind the grille and pull on the cable with some vice grips, or push the lever the cable is attached to with like a screwdriver. You may have to damage the grille to get in there, once you do have it open I would replace the latch and cable. You can try lubricating the hell out of it but it may be too far gone. There may be a video on YouTube showing you how to get the hood up.
