securing hood

ok i have a carbon fiber hood and i have hood pins. I have had the hood on the car since last year but, i never put the pins in becasue i was to scared to drill the holes. Well i have gotten motivated and want to put my pins in but i realized i have a problem. when i close my hood i have to actually slam it down for it to latch. now if i put my pins in will i be able to stil slam it down with out the hood hitten the pins. so anyone with hood pins do you have to slam your hood for it to latch. if anyone has any views on this let me know thanks. phil

Samari is an unknown quantity at this point
you can either take the latch off that way you dont have to unlock the pins then go inside the car and unlock the hood or you can keep both of them and just shut the hood lightly on the pins and then just push hard on the front end of the hood to make it latch down.....

I have same problem. I hear the solution is to install a weaker hood latch spring which I still haven't done. Hope this helps.

first off, what kind of hood do you have? sounds like you have a cheap carbon fiber hood. Well, on my hood, I have the hood pins and when I want to open the hood, I just have to lift on the hood pins then the hood pops up. It doesnt latch though when the hood pins are in because my thing is broke. I dont care though. To lazy to fix it.
