Rep Power: 0 Rattling is BACK!
I had the rattles of my Civic fixed last November 2001, I thought they're GONE! Now......the rattles are back! Any of you experienced this? What's your remedy? Any DIY?
Help pls...

Rep Power: 0 I hate to say it but your car is gonna rattle because it's a Honda. Honda doesn't put any cushioning to kill the sounds in the interior body structure. This is not a 7th gen Civic issue from what I know...

Rep Power: 0 My friend's 2k1 sedan rattles but his exhaust note is so loud, you can't really hear it unless you're in the back seat. I hear squeaks in my 2K2 (heard them @8000 miles) nearly EVERY TIME I back out of my driveway in a turn off the curb. It sounds like the interior is bending or twisting (and it would be after coming off or on a curb by appoaching it with one weheel first). It results into noises. If you really wanna fix the problem, a Honda dealer ain't the place to go to unless you get real hooked up.

Revmaster,
I was just wondering whether you had a 2 door or a 4 door.

Rep Power: 0 << I think the interior sound proofing adds weight, that would be why Honda doesn't like to put too much of it in the Civic. >>
It doesn't last for sh't. Oh well, the Civic is not a luxory car, but since there is an Acura Civic (EL that is), I wonder if the luxory line of them has this issue? For a luxory car, this shouldn't even happen.

Rep Power: 0 There's a service bulletin for the rear deck rattling. I brought it in to my dealer, and my invoice had a bulletin number for it. If any one needs it, let me know.

I also have a sedan. I have had a rattle in the left pillar, above the shoulder strap slider bar. It was underneath the plastic moulding and was a rapid ticking sound apparently caused by road vibration. It started about two months after I got the car. About a month later I took it to the dealer, who removed the plastic and lubricated underneath. They said it was difficult to pinpoint though. The rattle soon returned though, it has been continuing through the winter months, very frequently. It could be recreated in individual ticks by pressing on the plastic. Recently though, the rattle has subsided. I'm hoping that the parts has worked together and I won't have to go back to the dealer (knock, knock). You may want to ask the dealer abour it but wait before disassmbling anything, or having the dealer do anything. Maybe the summer heat will bake some of the rattles out of your car. My other rattles are not very distracting, and usually only when hitting a bump, etc. Good luck, for both of us.

Rep Power: 0 Ya, the rattles are a lot less noticeable in the summer, cuz the heat expands everything and it all starts to fit nice and snug. But then you're gonna have to deal with it again next winter when it gets cold again.

Hey Ronin. Not sure if my dealership will do anything about this... but I do have rear deck rattling. Unfortunately, as of today, this only happens when I'm planning my music in the car. I'll have to disconnect my 12W3 sub to see if this is a also caused by my 6x9's. Then again, the rattling on the rear deck is 90% heard from the outside with the windows up. Send me the TSB anyways...
Cheers,
PiCASSO

Rep Power: 0 Ok, that Honda bulletin for the rear deck rattling is IX-5-01: Loose Speaker Bulletin.
I took a look after I got my car back and they added some padding directly in between the plastic deck and the metal frame underneath. They also wedged some metal pieces into the area where the deck meets the rear windshield. If your dealer is unwilling to fix this for you, tell them about this bulletin number.

If the rattles go away for the summer, I guess I'll settle for that.
